Dancheong are traditional Korean patterns painted on temples and palaces. The colours and symbols carry cultural meaning and they captivated me the moment I first saw them in books as a child. Being half-Korean and raised in the United States secluded from my mom's culture, I have often struggled with identity. This collection is a chance to explore and connect with my Korean heritage and I invite you to join on the journey discovering and appreciating Korean culture beyond mainstream trends.
These stud earrings feature 1.5cm ceramic discs set in .925 recycled silver bezels. Each features one of four dancheong patterns that I studied and hand-painted before turning into overglaze decals. The pattern is permanently a part of the glaze on the ceramic disc. This was my first foray into ceramics and it had quite the learning curve!
