Whether it's your grandmother's lace table runner, the crinkles of your furbaby's nose, or the gnarled bark of the tree you climbed and scraped your knee on in childhood, we can capture those textures and turn them into jewellery talismans that can remind you of your most precious memories.

The kit is currently only available to UK customers.

HOW IT WORKS

Order a kit for £28, including postage. 

Make your mould and send the kit back to Dee.

The £28 will be applied to the cost of your order.*

Your kit includes: 

  • Mould Putty Parts A & B
  • Ring Sizer
  • Wax Jewellery Models
  • Order Form
  • Glassine Bag
  • Kitchen Roll
  • Instructions (Both written and a link to the video instructions on this page)

You make your mould, fill out the included order form, and post it all back to me to the address provided in the kit.

Once received, I will make sure that your mould is suitable and then email you to confirm your details and provide an invoice for payment. 

Once paid, I begin work on your piece, carefully applying your captured memory to a wax model before casting it in your chosen precious metal. 

Once your piece has been tidied and pre-polished, it goes to Edinburgh to be assayed with my maker's mark and a mark assuring it is the precious metal it claims to be. All heirlooms should be hallmarked and by law in the UK, silver pieces over 7.78 grams and gold pieces over 1 g must be.

I will apply a final polish to your piece before posting via Royal Mail Tracked 48. 

The whole process typically takes 6 weeks, although there can be delays during busy periods such as November/December. I keep you informed of the progress along the way.

*If items are missing or the kit is damaged due to misuse, part or all of the £28 may be used towards replacement. Damage to wax models NOT considered misuse - they are delicate.

IMPRESSION KIT FAQ

Can I make more than one piece of jewellery with my kit?

Yes! Each kit contains enough putty to make more than one mould or you can order multiple pieces from one mould.

How long do I have to use the kit?

Each kit's instructions will have a specific expiry date but you typically have 6 months for best results. Just keep the kit at consistently room temperature.

What can I make a mould of?

The texture on your pet's nose or one of their toe beans. A piece of fabric that carries meaning for you. Tree bark. A leaf.

Really, anything that is solid, dry, and has texture.

Just note that this kit is focused on capturing textures, not whole forms. So you won't receive a 3D replica of your pet's nose, for instance.

How do I send the kit back?

Reuse the postal box the kit came in or use a padded mailer. I highly recommend a tracked service.

The return address is provided in the kit instructions. 

Do you ship internationally?

For now - Just to the United Kingdom (Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales). 

I aim to be able to send to Ireland and the rest of the EU as well, however new upcoming regulations in addition to the Brexit issues require thorough research and preparation to get my ducks in a row, first.

Are there any other styles of rings available?

I'll be adding more styles over time. But if you're interested in a particular style, please send me an email at dee@quirkybutfierce.com and we'll see if we can make it happen.

How long does it take to get my finished piece back?

I will create a wax model using your texture mould before casting in your chosen precious metal in my studio. 

From there, your piece will be hallmarked in the Edinburgh Assay Office before being shipped to you.

The entire process typically takes 4 to 6 weeks. Delays may occur during busy seasons. I’ll keep you informed. 

What if my ring doesn't fit?

Let me know within 30 days of receiving your ring and we can resize it one time at no additional charge. Any resizing after that will incur a charge.

Can I use my own silver or gold?

Yes! Please send an email at Dee@QuirkyButfierce.com to discuss details.

Can I send the kit to someone as a gift?

Yes - as long as the person lives in the UK. Buy them a kit and then buy them a Gift Card to cover the cost of the final piece. At checkout,  you can mark the order as a gift and write a personal message that I'll include when shipping to your recipient.

Is it safe to use the mould compound on my pet's nose?

Yes! The mould compound is non-toxic and non-hazardous. However, it should not be ingested and supervision should always be used around pets and children. The data safety sheet can be found HERE.

What is a hallmark?

A hallmark is a series of marks applied to an item of precious metal by an independent, government-appointed Assay Office. There are currently four Assay Offices in the United Kingdom: Edinburgh, London, Sheffield and Birmingham. Hallmarks can only be applied to an item after it has been tested through a process known as ‘assaying’, where the precious metal content is verified. 

In the United Kingdom, any silver object over 7.78 grams or any gold object over 1 gram must be hallmarked by law. 

What happens to my mould?

I can keep your mould on file for up to two years or I can send it back to you with your jewellery.
