Dancheong are traditional Korean patterns painted on temples and palaces. The colours and symbols carry cultural meaning and they captivated me the moment I first saw them in books as a child. Being half-Korean and raised in the United States secluded from my mom's culture, I have often struggled with identity. This collection is a chance to explore and connect with my Korean heritage and I invite you to join on the journey discovering and appreciating Korean culture beyond mainstream trends.
These adjustable bracelets feature a 3cm ceramic disc featuring one of four dancheong patterns that I studied and hand-painted before turning into overglaze decals. The pattern is permanently a part of the glaze on the ceramic disc. This was my first foray into ceramics and it had quite the learning curve!
